The series Clouds Over Cairo employs a deliberately simplified visual language, in which schematically rendered cloud formations seen from an orbital perspective appear alongside equally reduced depictions of pyramids. At its core, the work addresses the discrepancy between human megalomania and the overarching dynamics of a universal nature. The space-based viewpoint functions both as a visual device and as a conceptual framework. It relativizes human measures of significance. Pyramids appear as signifiers of cultural permanence, order, and monumentality, whereas clouds are subject to a continuous, ephemeral transformation. The image is divided into four panels, quasi systematically gridded, referencing scientific mapping conventions. Beyond this, the terrestrial-stellar connection between the pharaoh and the sun—central to ancient Egyptian cosmology—is casually disrupted by the mere presence of clouds. A psycho-meteorological dilemma.
